Thorlakson Aspirating Speculum

The use and application of femtosecond lasers is broadening significantly in ophthalmic surgical procedures. Many of these devices utilize suction rings to fixate the patient's eye. To accommodate the suction ring, a rounder opening of the lids is preferable. Richard Thorlakson, MD of Phoenix, Arizona modified our standard Lieberman Aspirating Speculum with an 11mm semi-circular, low-profile blade configuration. In addition, the angle of the distal tips has been widened to aid in the retraction of any excess lid skin that might be encountered. The combination of these features makes the Thorlakson Aspirating Speculum an ideal choice for use with femtosecond lasers.
