Bonfadini DALK Spatula
for safe bisection of stroma during the "Big Bubble" technique

Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty (DALK) is becoming a very popular procedure and many new instruments are being developed to make it more efficient and precise. Dr. Gustavo Bonfadini of Brazil has designed a new instrument to aid in bisecting the stroma after the "Big Bubble" has been created. First, the 1mm wide x 8mm long, flat spatula with beveled tip can be used by the surgeon to complete the dissection of any areas that were not completely separated by the air bubble. After dissection is complete, the surgeon can bisect the stroma by running a disposable blade in and along the center groove on the anterior surface which spans the length of the spatula.
